Alex antics

Alex's antics this week have been out of control. Whine for this whine for that and it is about to make me loose the rest of what little hair I have left of 43 yrs. I have been told by many seasoned parents that these battles of will must be won at all costs. But the cost of my sanity is taking a toll. With the never ending winter doldrums to the impending birth of our new addition and the uncomfortable mommy in the house it is about to drive the toughest of parents to the edge. Last night at dinner was a site to behold. Alex wanted ice cream for dinner and he is able to open the freezer now grab it and run. It took an hour of screaming and physical restraint to win this battle in addition to every ounce of patience on my part. In the end he ate his prescribed food and had his ice cream there after but why do kids go the hard road. I guess because they can and I wonder what tonight will bring. Home brew will cure anything but that is another post.

Still waiting

I thought by now we would be scheduled for an earlier C-section date for Emilynda but no call yet from our OBGYN Dr. . Maybe it is not a problem but for my wife she is really uncomfortable and can't walk far at all. I feel bad for her as I wish I could carry a bit of the weight. Her back is hurting the most she says and needs me to massage it often. Not to much longer though and all I can do is do my best at keeping her happy and fed. Alex has realized now that mommy can't pick him up anymore so now he comes to me more often. I should or my wife should just call the office and see if their will be a change.

Joshua update

We had our bi-weekly check-up yesterday and our second boy is measuring 38 weeks! yikes! So they sent us off to another ultra sound to see how he looks and get some more accurate measurements and it seems he is around 6.5 pounds and a big boy as the doctor says. I am betting that we get a call this week as to a new birthday for Joshua. He is currently slated for a March 22 delivery but I don't think he will last that long. We shall see and keep you posted. On a side not I had two fillings replaced yesterday as well and so it was a full day of probing and doctors appointments for us on a holiday.

We got Cable! wahooo

My sweet little wife finally agree to get cable to our home. We have been without for at least 5 years now as due to the cost of having cable. But now in our area the local cable company has offered a bundle discount for Phone, high speed Internet and basic cable service for less then 100 dollars a month for the first year. Last night I stayed up and watched American Chopper until 11pm which is a no no in our house. Alex has also been able to watch his favorite shows in a clear picture for a change. We do limit his TV but it is a little less now that it is winter and not much fun to be outside. Wow cable.....so so many channels and so so little time.

Cold = Trains

Bitter cold here today. Looks like a day of playing with Geo-Trax and a DVD or two. I brook out the new toys from Christmas and hide the Lego's as he has too many toys already and friends have said that toy rotation is good. But the only problem is Alex has a memory of an elephant as of late. I have seen some crazy stuff with the Geo-Trax stuff on the internet such as this guy. Also check out some of my stay at home dads and their set ups. Geo-Trax Lunatics
We have far less but Alex will get into it at 3 or so but it sure is fun for me as the care giver of the family. It reminds me of the train set my Grandpa gave me when I was young and I still have that set too.

First real workout.

Today was the first of many workouts to come. I weighed in at a whopping 213.6 lbs and felt it on the StairMaster. Did 20 min's there and another 10 mins on the cycle. Not bad far a first workout in more then a year. I feel great having done it and look forward to tomorrow and beyond. My next step is to keep this going and getting out of bed during the week at 5 am so I can make the gym at 6am. You see as a stay at home parent and limited funds we can not afford the fancy shmancy gyms that have day care. Emilynda goes to work at 8am so my window of opportunity is early morning so as to get back home by 7:30 to feed my little one and get wify off to work. The trick to this will be to get to bed early and start to wind down at 8pm. Its going to be a chore at first but in a month or so it will be routine as my energy will be higher. Super bowl is tomorrow and looking forward to a good game and family fun.

Rise and Shine

The clock read 5:30 am. I thought about getting up and going to the gym but the pain was overwhelming me. You see we went to bed at 11pm last night from an evening of Price club shopping. I did get up anyway from the prodding of my prego wife and started the routine. I need to get my body going first before I can think of working out. At 0600 I did feel better about my decision to get up as now I had all this time to get breakfast going for my little family and also time to enjoy a good cup of joe and the newspaper. Wify even said I seemed happier as she went out the door to work as my little buddy was munching on his peanut butter english muffin. By Monday I should be back in business and on to a better lifestyle and more energy. Now where is my cinnamon crusted bagel.
