WV Trip

On a whim we decided to go to the Canaan Valley in West Virginia. It was going to be a very hot weekend to be in the DC area so we decided to go and explore the mountains. The drive was very scenic and went fast so the boys were in good spirits mostly and those of you with kids get the idea. I took lots of pic for you all to enjoy. We are having a great summer and hope everyone else is too.

Horse Ride

It is nice to have friends in cool places such as my friend Kara. She is an old friend of mine and she invited my family to her Horse farm out in the beautiful Va country side. Alex and Joshua were all keyed up to go as we had to cancel our first attempt due to a sick kiddo. So with that the boys were bouncing off the walls to go and be like a real cowboy. Even my beautiful wonderful wify got to go for a ride on Pewter which is a really nice gentle horse. Alex was a bit nervous but got on first and seemed to love every minute of it. Joshua was next and he too was a bit nervous at first but then had a really good time. The boys were a bit taken back as to the size of a real horse so it was really good to get them exposed to them up close. Kara has a really fine facility that she runs and it was a real treat to go and see it all. The kids have lots to tell their friends as many of their friends don’t get a chance to ride a full size horse. Here are a few pics of the outing.

Presidents Program

Alex has been working on his presentation for a month now along with his fellow classmates and this was the big day to talk in front of the whole kindergarten class.  He was president Zachary Taylor the 12th one of the United States. His speech went like this “ My name is Zachary Taylor and I am the 12th president. The California gold rush happened while I was president. My nickname is “Rough and Ready”” All the kids did well and only one little girl had trouble remembering her speech.

First day in the 60s

I don't know about all of you but the first warm sunny day of the year really gets me motivated to do stuff around the house. After a long dark winter it is a great feeling that the end is near just 5 more weeks officially. A little taste of things to come is a good thing and it being Valentines day it is even more appreciated. Not really big plans for us this day but I am hemming her pants and replacing toilet seats for her as requested. Not very romantic but the day is still before us and more romance this evening. Come on spring!
